Heels

What are you supposed to do with bread heels? My family goes through almost a loaf of bread per day...yet no one seems to be interested in the heels. I frequently find three bread bags with only heels left in them.

Does anyone have an appealing use for them?

Too bad we don't live closer. Seth loves the heels and thinks it is a special treat when he gets one. He has actually begged for me to dig all of the other bread out so he can have the heel. I refused.

Stuffing, of course!

Stuffing is the CORRECT answer, 10 points to Angela. You may pick the next category.

Your children love croutons so you could make some croutons with the heels. I tried that the other day, I buttered both sides, sprinkled on garlic and Italian seasonings, cut them in cubes and then put them in the oven to toast. This really was a good idea, and they would have been great croutons, except I forgot about them and left them in too long and they burned and I had to throw them away. You could probably do it if you set a timer.

Send them to Bryon. It's great to have a "end" eater, every family should have one just as they should have a "dark" meat eater for thanksgiving and a dark chocolate eater for mixed boxes of
Sees. Try telling the kids "nobody eat the heal, I'm saving that Dad"
Here's a question I've never gotten a sound answer to, how come hot dogs don't come in 8's to match up with the buns?

Courtney -- That is funny that you say Seth especially likes the heels because you have no idea how many times I have used you as an example of "the diversity of tastes" (i.e., different strokes for different folks) -- via the example:

"Some people like broccoli stocks and some people like the florets"

I can now add bread heels as an additional example...

:-)

Sidney -- You have exposed me to one of life’s important unsolved mysteries: Why do hot dog wieners package quantities and hot dog bun package quantities not match up?

More on "evil packaging" in an upcoming post...
